JUNIOR LEADER TRAINING
Council Offers Junior Leader
Training Course
Each Spring, the Sequoyah Council holds
a Junior Leader Training course at Camp Davy Crockett.
The new training course is designed to be a supplement to the training
that boy leaders receive from their Scoutmasters. It's purpose is
to provide a standardized curriculum in which boy leaders are trained in
the responsibilities of their jobs and given basic leadership tools with
which to accomplish them.
The objectives of the course are:
-
To give each participant an understanding of Troop
structure, the responsibilities of each of the leadership positions and
how they interrelate.
-
To provide each participant with an understanding
of the purpose and function of the Patrol Leaders Council.
-
Through practical examples, to introduce the new
boy leaders to managing conflict in the Patrol.
-
To introduce each participant to four basic leadership
skills. They are: Planning, Setting the Example, Communicating,
Sharing Leadership.
-
To show each participant how to use the material
from Woods Wisdom and how it will assist him in his leadership position.
-
To give each participant the opportunity to share
ideas and experiences with other Scouts from other Troops.
-
To have fun!
Pre-registration for the course is required.
Registration is limited to 48 participants from the whole Sequoyah Council,
